Gisela Mota: the young mayor who gave her life for legality

The whole world is talking about Temixco, Mexico’s Mayor who was murdered less than 24 hours after her first official speech. The young, 33 year old Gisela Mota, with much political potential, was already a federal deputy before she was 30. During an intense speech delivered last January 1, 2016, she promised to fight corruption and drug trafficking. The assassination was executed by youth, ages 17 to 18, from a criminal group called Los Rojos. Los Rojos is affiliated with drug traffickers that try to prevent greater control by the State Police. In the years 2006 to 2015, 71 mayors in Mexico have been killed including hundreds of public officials. All of those killed were for legality.
