TANZANIA: PRESIDENT MAGUFULI – “LET’S WORK TOGETHER FOR PEACE AND UNITY”
“I promise to be faithful to the promises I have made during the electoral campaign but we have to work together. Let’s do whatever it takes to guarantee peace and unity in this nation” – these were the first words of John Magufuli, victor of the elections and the next Tanzanian president, during a speech made public today at Dar es Salam.
Already the minister of public service in the outgoing government, Magufuli – candidate of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Party – will make his oath at an official ceremony anticipated on November 5.
“Why should I be sad? I played my role well and I have worked in building our country. My time has come to an end” – words said by previous president Jakaya Kikwete who lead the country for 10 years and defined Magufuli as “the right man” for Tanzania. His attitude contrasted many, many from different countries and continents who insist on modifying the Constitution and his hold to power.
