Hundreds of people participated in the national dialogue for peace and social justice conventions held in Ecuador, including invited guests: opposition and civil society. President Rafael Correa gathered proposals for a more equal distribution of wealth after the occurrence of protest and controversies last June. Six other meetings were held the previous week with the participation of universities, unions, students, indigenous organizations, NGOs, governors and 142 mayors of all national territory. A webpage was also created where information could be found and is open to opinions and suggestions. Furthermore, the social, production, and cultural organizations of seven territorial zones will hold other conversations and seminars on the 14th of August until the middle of September. In three months, the Governor will asses the results and come up with a proposal relevant to the “national dialogue”. This may take time when process starts.
